Police have twice failed to arrests Mariam Abdi, the woman suspected to have smuggled the weapons used by the terrorists from the neighbouring Somalia.

Ms Abdi is reported to have closely collaborated with Ali Salim Gichunge, the man who commanded the team of 5 that realized Tuesday's attack.

Attempts by the Anti Terror Police Unit to nab her in Mombasa on Thursday failed before another failure in Eldoret where she was thought to be hiding.

The latter who hails from Bondeni in Mombasa is still on the police radar and last night another net was cast in an attempt to nab her in Malindi, as reported by the Standard.

She is said to be an insider of the Somali based terror organization Al Shabaab and a member of its Internal Security and Intelligence Unit.

The police are yet to establish how the heavy artillery used by the 5 terrorists made its way into the country and believe that Salim and Abdi were behind it.

The duo is believed to have met in Somalia in 2012 before their return into the country in 2016. Gichunge is reported to have been living in a rented house in Ruaka, Kiambu County.
