Chacha revealed the cancellation of the press briefing, in which he was expected to address the issue of auditing these courses, was reached to allow more time for consultation.

This comes after Students in affected universities threatened to hold protests until they are given the green light to pursue them.

Students have now vowed not to attend classes until the Vice Chancellors, who have dismissed the list of useless course, and CUE resolve the matter since they are not ready to waste their time and money in pursuit of degrees that will take them nowhere in future.

According to CUE, More than 10,000 students in the listed institutions are currently pursuing the unapproved courses.

The commission has also assured students that the matter will be regulated to ensure they are not locked out of the job market.

CUE official noted that the queries in the list occurred because some of the universities were yet to submit details of courses that needed approval.

“Some universities provide details for accreditation for particular programmes but continue to teach,” said an official at CUE, as quoted by Daily Nation.
