A 32-year-old man shocked villagers after he chased his mother away from home on grounds that she is a witch.
The incident happened on Tuesday evening at Nyabera village in South Mugirango, Kisii County.
Julius Omweri kicked her 61-year-old mother, Josephine Moraa out of her house for being a witch.
"I will not continue living in the same compound with a witch. She has tried to lure me to join her but, I have refused. I brought a woman to be my wife but, she abandoned me after she tried to persuade her to join and practice witchcraft," he said.
He threatened to slash whoever will go and ask him to allow his mother back to her home.
"I am not going to listen to anyone who will ask me to allow her back home. Even if she says she has stopped witchcraft, let her stay away from home. She will only be buried here but, not staying here alive," he said.
Area chief, David Ayienda confirmed the incident and said the aged woman went to her paternal home in Bomachoge.
"Moraa left her home because Omweri threatened to kill her. We can't tell exactly if she is a witch but, her son's claims are being investigated," he said.
Mr Ayienda called on residents to shun witchcraft and instead dedicate their lives to the Lord.
