Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has bitten the humble pie regarding his stand in the March 9, 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The lawmaker was recently all over the media questioning the truce, accusing Uhuru of hiding the content of the truce, and claiming that it has everything to do with the 2022 general elections.
However, speaking on Saturday, he made an about turn on both leaders, saying that he fully supports their ceasefire and ongoing cooperation.
Speaking to the Citizen Digital, the firebrand parliamentarian told the president to not confuse him for an anti-handshake party as he is well within the truce.
He apologized to the President for not being vocal on his support for their peace deal with the former Prime Minister.
However, he opened another battlefront with the president over his (Uhuru) proposal for constitutional changes to bring in a more inclusive governance system.
Instead, Ngunjiri said that he will only support the referendum if it will lead to the reduction of leadership slots.
Uhuru had on the other hand-rooted for a larger executive system in what he terms 'a way to eradicate the winner takes it all system'.
Their exchange last month worsened after Uhuru referred to Ngunjiri as a 'Mshenzi' (idiot) leading to the lawmaker staging a defiance demo in Nakuru the next day.
