While testifying in court on 27, September 2017, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior said his father was murdered.
He told the court that the demise of his father was well-planned by unknown individuals in the government.
Kilonzo Junior said his late father was confident that he would emerge victorious in court before the tragedy before him.
He dismissed the claims that his father's death was not caused by an individual.
The senator asked the court to ensure that a report on what the workers and the persons the late senator spoke to is presented in court.
"I expected a report on who the workers or the people my father spoke or made contact with hours or days before he died but no such report has ever been done,” he said, as quoted by the local daily.
Mutula Kilonzo Junior later contested and won the seat left by his late father.
He is now one of the most powerful politicians from the Ukambani region.
Mutula Kilonzo Junior is considered among the Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana's possible successors.
