In a tweet, Abdullahi said that Senators and Members of Parliament represent clients, not for the sake of money but cheap politics.

He said that he is fully behind the President's stand on the declaration.

"When you see a Senator/MP in court representing a client it isn't about making some money on the side...it's ALWAYS about PLAYING CHEAP POLITICS in court. I called out Sen Orengo when he wanted to play SUCH politics in the Weston Hotel case...he was smart..he graciously withdrew," he tweeted.

Speaking during Jamhuri Day celebration, Uhuru said that state officers cannot be allowed to serve two masters at the same time.

He said that one has to choose to remain in public office or practice law.

"State and public officers are not above the law...One cannot serve as a legislator at the National or County level while at the same time practicing law whether or not for gain," he said.

Uhuru directed the Attorney General to draft regulations on conflict of interest.

"A teacher in public service, cannot have one foot in the classroom and the other in parliament...professionals who take upstate or public office should give up a private practice and devote their full time on public duties," he added.

The remarks of the President came after Senators Murkomen Kipchumba and Mutula Kilonzo Junior represented Governor Mike Sonko in court over the alleged loss of Sh357 belonging to the county government.
