This is after three cheeters were spotted roaming in the area.

According to resident Sam Mulu, the locals were forced to use every means to drive away the beasts.

"When word spread about where the cheeters were, residents came together and chased them away to Yianguni river," Mulu said.

The residents called on the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to dispatch a team of their officers to hunt on the animals and return them to where they sprang from.

The locals said they will live in fear until the animals are captured and taken back to where they escaped from.

"Our kids won't go out now because we fear they may have an encounter with the cheeters. And who knows, it may turn fatal. Until this matter is solved, we won't have peace," he added.

The cheeters are suspected to have escaped from Ol-Donyo Sabuk National Park in Matungulu, Machakos County.
