Michael Oyamo whose name has largely featured in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno is said to be allied to the Sangwenya gang, according to the Daily Nation.

Oyamo, a former Navy Officer was among the first suspects to be arrested in relation to the murder.

Several others, including the Governor himself, have also found themselves in trouble as the probe continues.

Also liked to the group is another of Obado's aides Caspal Obiero, who is also in detention after a 10-day remand pending further investigations.

Obiero's  car was allegedly used in the abduction of Sharon in Rongo Town, before she was found dead in Homa Bay County days later.

Obado's personal bodyguard Elvis Okoth Omondi is also in custody over the same allegations, and is as well linked to the group which has reportedly been terrorizing residents within its operation area.

Obado was arrested on Friday, days after DNA tests indicated that he fathered Sharon's unborn baby, a claim he had approved in advance, admitting that he indeed had a relationship with the slain beauty.

He is set to be arraigned on Monday to face charges revolving around murder, despite having disassociated himself with the killings.

"I want to state here that I had nothing and absolutely nothing to do with the cruel murder of Sharon," said the Governor who even requested for a speedy prove into the matter in a recent press conference.
