The Wiper party chairman has been severally voted among the best performing county bosses in terms of initiating people centered development projects.

As Kibwana serves his last term in office, a section of top and vocal politicians in Makueni are said to be eyeing to succeed him in 2022.

Peter Ngure, a political and social analyst says the Makueni gubernatorial election will be among seats to watch-out in 2022 polls.

Here are the three politicians who are likely to succeed Kibwana in 2022 according to the analyst:

1. Mutula Kilonzo Junior

He is the Makueni senator serving his second term in office.

Kilonzo Junior is among the most vocal Kamba politicians on issues facing Kenyans.

The senator who is also a lawyer by profession enjoys massive support from youth and women in Makueni.

Ngure notes that the young politician could easily succeed Kibwana owing to his urge for development and equal representation.

The senator has, however, not said whether he will contest for the seat in 2022.

2. Jessica Mbalu

She is the Kibwezi East MP serving her second term in office.

Mbalu is among the most vocal female Kamba politicians.

She also enjoys massive women support in Makueni.

The legislator has been quoted saying that she will not contest for parliamentary seat in 2022.

There are speculations that the MP could bid for the Makueni gubernatorial seat to succeed the incumbent.

3. Daniel Maanzo

He is the Makueni MP serving his second term in office.

A lawyer by profession, Maanzo is also among the most vocal Kamba politicians and a close ally of Kalonzo Musyoka.

According to Ngure, Maanzo is among the politicians who could fit into Governor Kivutha Kibwana’s political shoes in 2022.

Maanzo has not announced whether he will be contesting for the seat in 2022 or not.

"My focus right now is on the issues facing Makueni people in terms of legislation, we will talk about other things when time comes,” Maanzo said.
