Although a court recently acquitted Neno Evangelism Ministries leader Pastor James Ng'ang'a on charges of causing death by careless driving, it is still yet time for the man of the cloth to celebrate.

This is because Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang'i believes that Ng'ang'a belongs to prison and should therefore be taken there by court.

According to the CS, there was enough evidence in the public domain linking Ng'ang'a to the death of a woman who is said to have been hit by his car.

After the ruling was given by Magistrate Godfrey Oduor, Matiang'i immediately wrote to Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet with instructions to appeal the acquittal of Ng’ang’a.

“The ministry notes with surprise the acquittal handed down in the above case where we believe a brazen crime was committed by the accused person,” read the letter in part.

“While seeking a report on the investigatory and trial processes that may have caused this outcome, I urge you to appeal this judgment in its entirety and pursue justice for the victims herein and the people of Kenya,” added Matiang’i.

However, it remains to be seen whether Matiang'i's evidence is a mere judgment of the public opinion or has strength behind it.
