Don Bosco Ooga Gichana on Monday argued that since SGR will be extended to Kisumu, it is important for the railway line to also pass via Gusii region.

"If SGR is to be extended to Kisumu - for us Gusii people to feel our vote is taken seriously - the railway must pass through either Kisii or Nyamira to Kisumu," he wrote on his Facebook page on Monday.

Gichana said should transportation of goods and people will be made easier should the railway pass through Gusiiland.

"Imagine how it will ease trade and travel to Nairobi and the coast. It will take about 2 hours to Kisii from Nairobi," said Bosco.

He challenged elected leaders from Gusii region to push for the SGR to pass through Gusii region.

"Our elected leaders must pursue this as Raila and Uhuru go to seek funding in China. Let us not be told the designs are ready it can always be redesigned," he added.
