As police retrieved his lifeless body from his single-room house at Imara Daima estate, his fans shifted attention to possible underpayment by Royal Media boss S.K Macharia.

A company known to overpay presenters working in its numerous electronic media stations, people wondered how one of their employees would stay in a single room.

"Am extremely shocked that Egesa FM used to underpay Okebiro despite that extraordinary talent," protested Mosomi Nyakundi in Nyamira politics.

Another user, Zachary Masara said: "S.K is infamous in exploiting his workers. Okebiro struggled in Nairobi and that could have precipitated him to commit suicide."

Mr. Mochere committed suicide in what conspiracy theorists relate to a domestic brawl with his wife, who had after all hinted the same.

Some wondered why Macharia would encourage discrimination in payment despite the company's fame among media consumers.

"We know Royal Media workers who earn millions. Okebiro may have been surviving on little pay and that may have caused his family problems," said Oyugi.

Salaries of employees at Royal Media varies with the lowest reportedly earning Sh20,000 in relation to their qualifications and experience.

"There is that prejudices. We cannot be the same and that is a reality. We work according to rules established by the owner," said an employee who spoke in confidence.
