In a press release on Wednesday, the DCI noted that it had launched further investigations following numerous complaints filed by individuals believed to have been defrauded by three companies belonging to embattled Bishop David Ngari alias Gakuyo of Calvary Chosen Centre.

The three companies are Ekeza Sacco Limited, Gakuyo Real Estate and Gakuyo Investment Club.

The investigative agency has called upon residents in Nairobi and Kiambu to present their evidence to the DCI headquarters along Kiambu road on Monday, March 18, 2019.

"To further our investigations into the matter, the general public who have been defrauded in the scheme and hail from Nairobi City and Kiambu County are advised to report to Directorate of Criminal Investigations along Kiambu road on the 18th day of March, 2019 at 9.00am," read the statement in part.

The affected members have been urged to carry their deposit/withdrawal statements, deposit slips, any agreements and any other document relevant to the dealings.

This comes days after Bishop Gakuyo was grilled by the DCI over the Sh1.5 billion Ekeza Sacco scandal.

The Bishop is accused of illegally transferring members' money to his personal account.

"So we can say the money Gakuyo owes members is about Sh1 billion. This is the money he took illegally and without any approval of the members, and it is the money we want him to pay," said Stephen Njoroge, one of the appointed liquidator-receiver, during the Sacco's annual general meeting at Kasarani stadium.
