Speaking on Radio Citizen on Friday, Muluka who also doubles up as a member of the opposition’s Amani National Congress (ANC) said that what remains for the veteran leader is clarity on his new position and the officiating of the same.

Citing his new diplomatic role in the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led government after their March 9 truce, Muluka noted that Odinga is very unlikely to return to the opposition.

‘’Amekuwa akifanya majukumu maalum katika serikali na kilichobaki ni kutambuliwa kama balozi maalum na kufikishwa mbele ya majopo husika ili atambuliwe rasmi (he has been handling special assignments and should now be officiated as a special government envoy),’’ said Muluka.

Odinga’s assignments include his involvement in peace broking in the war torn South Sudan which saw him hold talks with former Vice President and rebel leader Riek Machar on June 9 after an earlier meeting with President Salva Kiir, apparenty with Uhuru’s blessings.

Earlier this month, Raila and his wife Ida traveled to India where he held diplomatic talks with Indian Premier Narendra Modi.

His move to reunite with President Kenyatta is, however, yet to be approved by his opposition counterparts  Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka, who claimed that he left them in the dark before reaching out to the head of state.
