Speaking in Kakamega town yesterday during a funds drive at Christ is the King Catholic Church, the second in command said that Kenyans wants to hear  the number of jobs created by the government and not leaders using all tactics including push for referendum to create positions.

He termed the calls for a referendum as a desperate attempt by greedy leaders who cannot win an election.

Ruto, who is considered among the favorites in the race for power in 2022, reminded leaders not to engage in political talk from January to January yet they have not fulfilled the promises they made to Kenyans when they were seeking elective posts in 2017.

“Kenyans don’t want to be told about positions. They are more concerned with being told how we are going to create jobs,” he said in part, as Standard quoted him.

The DP also said that it is unfortunate for some leaders to fight to get positions in government when youth from different parts of the nation are languishing in abject poverty because of lack of jobs. During the tour, Ruto revealed that the government was finalizing on plans to pay cane farmers from the Western region.
