Uhuru will tour Kisumu to preside over the launch of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) pilot phase which is a key pillar of his Big Four agenda.

On Friday, the Head of State and his host Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga will be in Siaya County where they will be awarded honorary doctorate degrees at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.

This is Uhuru's first visit to Nyanza, which has been the bedrock of opposition politics, since his March 4 handshake with Raila.

Among those expected to attend the much-awaited visit are South African Deputy President David Mabuza and other dignitaries.

Kiambu leaders led by former Governor William Kabogo and Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria have also vowed not to be left behind in the historic visit which Raila has likened to the 1961 Convention in Kisumu that was attended by various Heads of State from East and Central Africa.

"I was in the forefront calling for dialogue between Uhuru and Raila after last year's chaotic polls and I must be there in Kisumu to witness their reunion," Kabogo said during an exclusive interview on Kameme TV on Thursday morning.

He also asked the two leaders to hold a joint rally in Central Province in the spirit of devolving the handshake.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Kuria indicated he will attend the event and welcomed Uhuru on behalf of "the great people of Kisumu".
