Soy Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany has expressed concerns over the manner in which individuals linked to corruption at the Kenya Power were arrested.
The Jubilee MP said only a few individuals were arrested while others who were also in office when the alleged corruption happened are still free.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Sunday, Kositany insisted that all top managers at the Kenya Power must be arrested and prosecuted.
“If there was a problem at Kenya Power we agree with the arrests made but there are some who were there when the alleged malpractices were happening and up to now have not been arrested or even recorded a statement with the police,” said the MP.
“If we have to fight graft and succeed, there must be no sacred cows,” he added.
The first-time legislator further cautioned the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) against being used by powerful individuals in the name of fighting corruption.
“I want to tell the DPP that do not be used. Do not leave anybody out. Those involved, if there was graft in Kenya Power let them face the law,” said Kositany.
On Saturday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations announced that they had arrested former managing director, Dr Ben Chumo, Corporate Affairs and Company Secretary Beatrice Meso and General Manager Regional Co-ordination Peter Mwichigi.
John Ombui, the former General Manager, Supply Chain, was also arrested as well as Peter Mungai Kinuthia, the General Manager, Business Strategy.
The current Kenya Power boss Ken Tarus also surrendered to the police on Sunday.
The arrests are in relation to the procurement of defective transformers and the irregularities in prequalifying 525 companies for labour and transport contracts.
Through the two contracts; for transformers and labour and transport; Kenyans lost Sh470 million besides the inconvenience the defective transformers have caused.
