President Uhuru Kenyatta did not after all drive his deputy William Ruto in his official car on Sunday at Kapsabet town as claimed by a section of social media users.

A close study of the photos circulated on social media shows that Mr. Ruto, who had arrived in Kapsabet earlier, was being taken around by Nandi governor Stephen Sang.

By the time the photos were posted on social media by a team believed to be part of Ruto's campaign team, President Uhuru was in Nairobi for a church service.

The man on the wheels (Governor Sang) was in a red necktie while President Uhuru wore a blue tie throughout Sunday's events at Kapsaret.

Upon his arrival on a military helicopter, Uhuru was received by Ruto, Governor Sang and a host of local leaders.

Another strong clue that Mr. Kenyatta had not taken a ride with his DP, is when the former arrived at Kapsabet Boys where Ruto, who was already there, ushered him in.

During the event, Rift Valley leaders led by Governor Sang pleaded with Uhuru to pay back by supporting Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

But a candid president seemed to steer off the debate, only insisting that as leaders, they were mandated to serve the people first.
