Gor Mahia went into the game with a 1 - 0 advantage and needing only a draw to secure a berth in the second round, but was stunned by the hosts, who took the lead in the second half.

Nyasa's first shot of the game came on the 31st minute while Gor Mahia wasted a chance to take lead before the half-time break as captain Shakava failed to burry home Shafik's cross into an empty net.

After a first half goalless draw; Chiukepo Msowayo put Nyasa ahead with the opening goal in the 57th minute, to level the scoreline at a 1 - 1on aggregate.

Nyasa intensified attacks in search of a winning goal, but it was Gor that held on to the last minute.

Gor have keeper Boniface Oluoch to thank after he saved a penalty in the 87th minute after Batambuze was adjudged to have pushed Chiukepo in the penalty area.

In addition, Gor coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno was sent to the stands for protesting against the decision to award the penalty in the dying minutes of the match.

After a 1 - 1 aggregate in regular time, Gor went on to beat Nyasa 3 - 4 in the post-match penalty, thanks to the heroic stunt of goalie Boniface Oluoch.

The victory will see KPL giants set a date with the Lobi Stars of Nigeria in the second preliminary stage of the CAF Champions league.

Bernard Ondiek, Humphrey Mieno, Boniface Omondi, and captain Harun Shakava scored their spot kicks for Gor Mahia.

Elsewhere, Kariobangi Sharks drubbed Djibouti side, Arta Solar7, three nil to also qualify for the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Sharks took a lead on the 29th minute through George Abege before later scoring two more goals before stoppage time through Vincent Wasambo and Duke Abuya to win 9-1 on aggregate.

They will play away against Ghana giants Asante Kotoko between 14 and 16 December.
