Obado is being held at the Gigiri Police Station in Nairobi, over the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno two weeks ago.

The aides, Michael Oyamo and Caspal Oduor, are also being held over the same, and have since been arraigned and remanded pending further probe.

According to the Sunday Standard, it emerges that the detectives might have succeeded in convincing the duo to confess about the Governor's possible participation in the murder in exchange for a lesser charge.

This, according to sources attached to the paper, was in a bid to resolve whether only the 5 mentioned persons were involved or there remains others.

Obado who becomes the sixth to be arrested is set to be arraigned on Monday, with the detectives still considering whether to combine all the suspects in one murder case or separately.

Another option in their hands is to charge the ones who cooperated with conspiracy to commit murder, and transform them into state witnesses against the others.

Sharon's murder followed her abduction alongside Nation Reporter Barack Oduor in Rongo, Migori County.

She was days later found murdered in a thicket near Oyugis Town, Homa Bay county, she was seven months pregnant at the time.

The Governor has since distanced himself from the murder, but admitted that he indeed had a romantic relationship with her.
