Fresh details indicate that about Sh5 billion has been lost after 51 million litres of jet fuel allegedly went missing at the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC).

The State-owned KPC, which is mandated to manage fuel storage, recently announced there was fuel shortage which caused alarm in the aviation industry.

The saga was unearthed when oil marketers conducted an audit of their stocks at KPC and realised that 51.2 million litres of fuel could not be accounted for.

"The (51 million litres) variance of our DPK/Jet stocks in the KPC system requires an explanation from KPC as we have already imported this stock and discharged it into the KPC system, and the same confirmed in your records," the oil marketers in Kenya said in a letter seen by Daily Nation.

Following the scandal, Kabogo on Friday said Kenya has been "bewitched" and it will only take God's intervention to restore sanity.

"Aliyeturoga alikufa. Ewe Mola utuonee huruma (Whoever bewitched Kenya is long dead. Oh Lord, have mercy on us)," tweeted the former Kiambu Governor.

The saga emerges amid the investigation into the alleged loss of Sh21 billion meant for the construction of Arror and Kimwarer dam projects in Elgeyo-Marakwet County.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has repeatedly vowed to end corruption which various independent reports have shown it claims over a third of the country's budget.

"There will be no relenting on efforts to tackle corruption and to strengthen good governance practices in the public sector. For those who think the President will back down on this issue you are sadly mistaken," said Nzioka Waita, the Chief of Staff in the office of the President

However, Kabogo believes the purge on graft is getting out of hand.

"I agree. But when will we stop getting fresh scandals coming through?" he tweeted on Friday in response to Waita's remarks.
