Despite being in the front-line in castigating the DP’s political moves and questioning the source of his alleged wealth, the Ford-Kenya deputy party leader has cooled down over the recent weeks.

Speaking on Radio Maisha’s ‘Bunge La Maisha’ on Wednesday morning, Khalwale attributed their sudden friendship to a recent truce.

‘’Mimi na Ruto tumesalimiana na kuamua tuache yale ambayo yamekuwa yakituzuia kushirikiana (we have reconciled and ironed out our differences),’’ said the former Kakamega gubernatorial hopeful.

The leader who was reportedly quoted publicly questioning the sources of Ruto’s alleged hotels and choppers added that the DP addressed the issue during the reconciliation meeting.

According to Ruto, he said, the wealth is not a product of his presidential salary or any graft dealings but emanates from his other businesses and returns from his investments.

‘’Alinihakikishia kuwa pesa zake si za mshahara bali zinatokana na biashara zake zingine (he assured me that his wealth has nothing to do with his position or salary but is from his other ventures),’’ added Khalwale.

Khalwale was on the opposing side in the run-up to the previous general polls while Ruto’s government side went ahead to secure a re-election.
