Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku is serving his first term in office and is likely to defend the seat in the upcoming 2022 general election.
Governor Lenku is however likely to experience a tough time defending the seat as veteran politicians eye to unseat him in 2022.
Here are politicians who are likely to give governor Ole Lenku a run for his money in the 2022 election.
1. Elijah Memusi Kanchori
The Kajiado Central MP is serving the second term in office and is among vocal politicians in the 'Maa' community.
A close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga, Memusi could give governor Ole Lenku a run for his money if he contests the governor seat in 2022.
2. Peris Tobiko
The Kajiado East MP became the first female to be elected in the history of the 'Maa' community.
A critic of governor Ole Lenku, Tobiko is likely to bid for the top county seat in the anticipated 2022 general election.
3. David Ole Nkedianye
The former Kajiado governor lost re-election to Ole Lenku in the 2017 general election.
Nkedianye is likely to bid for the governor seat in 2022 election.
He could make a comeback basing on the performance of Ole Lenku.
4. Keriako Tobiko
Though he is not a politician, the Environment Cabinet Secretary (CS) is likely to venture into elective politics in 2022.
The former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) is seen as the next voice of the 'maa' community and could give Ole Lenku 'headache' if he bids for the governor seat in 2022.
Only time will tell if the said politicians will indeed be on the Kajiado gubernatorial ballot in the much anticipated 2022 election.
