Three people have died on the spot after a Coca Cola Company truck rammed into a motorcycle and then a tuk-tuk at the Mamboleo Junction, along the Kisumu – Kakamega road on Friday afternoon.

The lorry which was ferrying empty soda bottles from Kakamega towards Kisumu town caused the accident after the brakes allegedly failed.

The motorcyclist died on the spot, while a woman and her child died after the truck hit the tuk-tuk they were travelling in. 

The driver of the tuk-tuk was reported to be the woman’s husband.

He got injuries on the head. The truck driver also got injured. They were rushed to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (Russia) for medication. Bodies of the three who died were moved to the Hospital’s morgue.

“The vehicle was coming very first. After passing the roundabout it hit a motorcycle guy who died on the spot. After that, it hit a tuk-tuk. A woman and her child died on the spot. The tuk-tuk driver got injuries,” said an eye witness who introduced himself as Paul Agai.

The place where the accident occurred is undergoing construction; with residents now demanding that the construction work is speedily done in order to avoid accidents in the future.
