President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga were among the high profile Kenyans who graced the event.

Raila stole the show when he came forth to narrate how the journey to Canaan was aborted.

Raila noted that they met crocodiles while heading to Canaan before they decided to come back.

The ODM leader, however, said he will continue supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime in the fight to make Kenya a better nation.

Raila read former President Mwai Kibaki's speech at the burial.

He also eulogized the deceased as someone who was committed to changing the lives of many before his demise.

“During our journey to Canaan, I was the Joshua and Kalonzo was the Caleb. We moved from Egypt past Sinai desert only to find crocodiles waiting to devour us in River Jordan,” Raila said, sending the crowd into gales of laughter.

On his part, Uhuru said Kalonzo’s father will be remembered for the role he played in mentoring the Ukambani political kingpin.

“We, however, decided to build a bridge with my brother (President Kenyatta) so that Kenyans can cross over safely," Raila said.
