South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro said that DP Ruto should not associate himself with the ongoing fuel tax drama.

"DP Ruto should remain silent and ensure he doesn't himself with the newly introduced fuel tax. Let him focus on the 2022 general elections," he said.

The lawmaker said DP Ruto was right opposing the 2010 referendum but Kenyans ignored him.

Osoro argued that President Uhuru Kenyatta imposed the 8 per cent VAT on fuel tax because he will not be defending his seat in 2022.

"Uhuru knew he can't ask Kenyans for votes in 2022 and decided to impose the huge tax on poor citizens to get money to run his government. DP Ruto's silence over the fuel tax will not haunt him in 2022 because he has stood with Kenyans silently," he noted.

He reiterated that impeachment of National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi won't be stopped by anyone because even the Jubilee MPs are not happy over the passage of the controversial 8 per cent fuel tax.
