Sakaja says that last week's demolition of structures in Mutindwa market, Embakasi, and other Eastlands areas were done inhumanely.

Speaking at Jesus Winner's Ministry church in Roysambu on Sunday, Sakaja said that the demolitions are being done without notice to owners, making traders lose their property.

"Governor Sonko must make sure that he conducts the demolitions within the confines of the law, it is very bad for people to lose property which they have worked hard for," he said.

The senator asked governor Sonko to make sure that traders who are being evicted from road reserves are given alternative places to do their business.

He said that Nairobians are hardworking people and should not be denied the opportunity to do their work.

Sakaja also asked governor Sonko to consult residents widely before carrying out some of the development projects.

He said that public participation will ensure smooth development in the city.

Last week, the county government of Nairobi demolished illegal structures in Mutindwa market, Embakasi, Umoja, and Buruburu.

According to the county government, the structures are built on road reserves and are allegedly dens for criminals who are terrorizing residents.
