Former president Mwai Kibaki is described as a choosy and principled politician who rarely entertains gossip, reports the Standard.

But despite that, Kibaki,86, passionately hates red ties which President Uhuru Kenyatta always puts on.

“You will never see Kibaki in a red tie. He is always in ties of blue shades, just like his suits, which are either blue or gray," a friend of him said.

Also, the former president does not like sweaters and T-shirts, usually preferred by politicians during weekends.

“Kibaki is a creature of habit. That’s why he’s rarely seen in T-shirts or sweaters,” a former golfing buddy familiar with his routine told The Nairobian.

And even with his advanced age, Kibaki, who was recently hospitalised in South Africa, hates using walking sticks despite his difficulties in walking.

Unlike his peers, the former President also does not like using sun glasses or hats.

“The man has no time or appetite for retirement paraphernalia like walking sticks, reading glasses, hats or trench coats,” an old colleague said.
