Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has called on security agents to take action on perpetrators of sexual assault and other forms of gender-based violence.

The county boss said gender-based violence is in the rise in Nakuru.

Speaking on Tuesday during county multi-sectoral security meeting, Kinyanjui said the case are rampant in Kuresoi South ,Kuresoi North and Molo sub-counties.

He warned government administrators who engage in out-of-court settlement on such cases that they risk facing the law.

"We cannot tolerate cases of sexual assault where they are solved through understanding. The law must be adhered to,"he said. 

The governor added that his administration is in the process of putting up a GBV rescue center which will serve as a safe home for both sexual assault and GBV victims.
