North Eastern is among region's in the country that Deputy President William Ruto is likely to bank on in his ambition to be the country's 5th president in the 2022 general election.

In the recent months, the Deputy President has made several visits to Garissa, Wajir,  Mandera and Marsabit counties launching development projects.

In the past two general elections (2013 and 2017), North Eastern region that previously was allied to opposition voted for Jubilee.

And with the 2022 succession politics taking shape, here are North Eastern politicians who are likely to campaign and support DP Ruto's 2022 bid.

1. Aden Duale

He is a close ally of DP Ruto and has often castigated critics oppossed to Ruto's 2022 bid.

Duale has been quoted saying that North Eastern will stand solidly behind Jubilee Party in 2022 election.

The Leader of Majority in the National Assembly is expected to play a key role in DP Ruto's 2022 bid to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta.

2. Ali Roba

The Mandera County Governor is serving his final term in office.

Roba is a close ally of DP Ruto and could be among North Eastern leaders to back his presidential ambition.

Governor Roba has often told off Ruto's critics, saying they cannot stop an idea whose time has come.

3. Yusuf Haji

The Garissa Senator is serving his second term in office.

The Jubilee Senator is the most experienced politician in North Easter region.

Haji is likely to have a big say on who and how North Eastern region will vote in 2022 election.

The Garissa Senator is likely to push for Ruto's 2022 presidential bid though he has not shown signs or hinted about it.

4. Billow Kerrow

The former Mandera Senator is a voice to reckon with in North Eastern politics.

Though he has remained silent, the former Senator could play a key role on how the region votes in the much awaited 2022 general election.

It remains to be seen on whether these politicians will indeed support DP Ruto's presidential bid in the 2022 election.
