Governor John Nyagarama and his political nemesis Walter Nyambati, despite the ongoing election petition, had a handshake, unlikely though given their given hard stands.

While Nyagarama accuses Nyambati of sabotage, the latter has often blamed him of gross incompetence in the county.

"Let him retire and take care of grandchild. He's incapacitated and cannot bring anything meaningful to the county," Nyambati had once said.

So fierce has been their rivalry that their supporters often clash both physically and in social media forums.

After the Supreme Court hearing on Thursday, Nyagarama said he's ready to work with Nyambati if he agrees to.

"I don't have a problem with him. He's an old friend of mine despite our competition. He's welcome all the time," he noted.

Nyambati, who closely came second in 2017, is determined to overturn the results at the Supreme Court.
