Jackline Ngugi, 28, had been a resident at Fisheries in Kisauni, Mombasa, for the past three years before her ultimate death.

She allegedly left behind a note in which she asks God for forgiveness as well as protection of her baby.

The note read:

"God forgive me. This was not my will neither my wish. Fight for my blood God. Watch over my son. I have taken my life. Mum forgive me, I did not want any of this to happen to me. Take care of my son. God be the judge and fight for my innocent blood. If they drove me to this be the judge."

The baby's persistent cries alerted the neighbours who arrived only to find her body hanging from the ceiling of the house. The son was taken by a neighbour.

Mombasa Police commander Johnstone Ipara said that they are investigating the matter, to establish whether she was hanged or killed her self.

"We are yet to establish whether she was hanged or she killed herself. Investigations are on and we will get more information as we continue to gather details on the incident," said Ipara on phone.
