Borabu MP Ben Momanyi had requested Mr Angwenyi to find the best way he can convince the president to consider making a trip to Nyamira in the near future.

"We couldn't go to Kisii because we are not a Sub County. However, my senior Jimmy Angwenyi should try to help us meet the president. He needs to do one or two trips to Nyamira," Momanyi argued.

Uhuru toured Kisii County in February having postponed similar arrangements for Nyamira, a move that did not go well with leaders from the region.

Ang at Maagonga on Sunday during a burial, Angwenyi said he will ensure the president visits Nyamira since the two get well along with each other.

"I made you Commissioner (PSC) and you can use the same trick to have me bring the president. Just find time, visit my office and let us talk. I will for sure convince him to come," he told Momanyi.

Mr Momanyi and his West Mugirango counterpart Vincent Kemosi boycotted Uhuru's trip to Kisii, arguing that cancellation of Nyamira events without involving leaders was unnecessary.

Mr Angwenyi was first elected to parliament in 1996 to represent then the larger Kitutu Chache and has served five terms. He's currently the oldest MP in terms of service besides Senator George Khaniri and James Orengo.

He agreed that Uhuru's trip to Nyamira is inevitable given that he has only visited once for an official function in 2016. Nyamira leaders are keen to have Uhuru visit.
