The former National Assembly Deputy Speaker is alleging conflict of interest among judges of the highest court in the land.

According to Maalim, the court has become a 'big joke'.

“Let’s scrap the Supreme Court. It’s a big joke. I have always defended the Judiciary but now I am inclined to call for total reforms,” Maalim tweeted.

The former MP is also proposing that practicing advocates of the High Court should not be members of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

He also wants judges and magistrates to suspend their membership to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) until retirement.

The Chief Justice (CJ) David Maraga-led Supreme Court has in the recent days been criticised.

Renowned lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has been criticising the court for alleged slowness in hearing gubernatorial election petitions.

The court is also under criticism for the ruling it made on hijabs.

The apex court gave school administrators the discretion to make their own dress code rules.
