The eight were in the company of ten other officers who were traveling from Nairobi to Kangundo when the accident occurred.

The incident was confirmed by Matungulu Sub-County police commander Isaac Thuranira.

The police boss noted that the lorry carrying the officers lost control and rolled at Malaa area in Matungulu, Machakos County.

"The lorry which was heading from Nairobi to Kangundo was ferrying 18 KDF officers. On reaching the scene the driver lost control of the vehicle," said Thuranira in a phone interview.

He said the injured officers were taken to Forces Memorial Hospital for treatment.

"Out of the 18, eight sustained injuries while the rest escaped unhurt. Those injured were taken to Forces Memorial Hospital for treatment," said Thuranira.

The accident caused a traffic snarl-up for some time as residents gathered at the scene.

Thuranira urged motorists to be careful on the roads and follow traffic rules to avoid accidents.

This comes a week after an accident involving a 14-seater matatu occurred on the same road, claiming the life of one passenger.
