Speaking during an interview on Hot 96 FM, Kuria noted that he has what it takes to occupy the country's top seat.

"I will be on the ballot come 2022. I am above 35 years and that is one of the qualifications of being a president. I enjoy support all over Kenya," he said.

Kuria further noted that he would pick opposition chief Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto or Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana as his running mate.

"I wouldn't mind Baba (Raila), William Ruto or Kivutha Kibwama being my running mate," said Kuria.

The move made the vocal MP trend on Twitter for the better part of the day as Kenyans on social media reacted to the announcement.
