An ageing man in Nyabite village Nyamira County has accused Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i for failing to beef up security in the area.
This is after Joseph Ragira lost his cellphone to thugs who raided his house on Wednesday night.
Angered Ragira said police officers in the area working under Matiang'i are only interested in collecting bribes from illicit brew dealers but, poor in beefing up security.
"I'm blaming Matiang'i because his Interior ministry has failed to ensure that poor Kenyans like me are protected because four armed thugs armed with crude weapons stormed my house demanding for money. They stole Sh4,000 I had kept in my house," said Ragira.
Mr Ragira further said the thugs were not satisfied because he gave them little money.
"They also demanded for my cellphone worth Sh2,500. The thugs threatened to behead me if I could attempt to raise alarm while they were in the house," he noted.
He said on Thursday morning he reported the matter to police officers who are yet to arrest the suspects. According to Ragira, Matiang'i is lazy only good at making cheap threats.
Area police boss Lilis Wachira said the matter is being investigated.
"Police are hunting down the suspects who stole from the ageing man," noted Wachira.
