Benson Gathungu alias Mzee Kiengei in an exclusive interview on Wednesday evening, however, denied that Danson Kibaara Kabutu mentored him in comedy or even music.

Kiengei also rubbished Kabutu's allegations that he has been ignoring his phone calls for a long time saying that "I do not even have his number".

"I know Kibaara very well because he was a renowned guitarist in my village but I disagree with him on many things he has said about me in that story which may give your (Hivisasa) readers a wrong impression about me. Some people might think or say that I am inaccessible which is not the case," Kiengei said.

"I am requesting you to assist me to have a meeting with him I see what help I can offer him because I do not even have his phone number. Artistes like Ngotho Wa Thiururuka come from my home area and can agree with me that I am not how Kibaara is trying to portray me. That is not the issue though because I am more than willing to meet him," he added.

The popular 'Arahuka' show comedian also denied that Kibaara mentored him in comedy or music and that he gave him Sh400 fare while going to audition for Kameme FM comedy in Nakuru town.

Kiengei says he auditioned for Kameme FM comedy in 2011 and not in 2006 as Kibaara alleges. He notes that he had travelled from Nairobi where he was selling popular gospel musician Muigai Wa Njoroge's music CDs.

"He is not my mentor in any way. He doesn't even know the origin of my comedy name 'Kiengei'. Maybe he is talking about my elder brothers whom they are close agemates. Muigai Wa Njoroge and Sabina Chege (Muranga Woman Rep then Head of Coro FM) are the ones I can widely credit as being my mentors," Kiengei states.

Mzee Kiengei who is also a gospel musician, notes that he attended Maji-Mazuri Deliverance Church for only eight months and there was nothing like a drama club in the church, adding that he was a longtime altar boy at Maji-Mazuri Independent Church.
