Speaking at a Mombasa hotel on Sunday, the county boss said he has what it takes to ascend to power once President Uhuru Kenyatta completes his second and final term in office.

Mutua said the former Vice President's proposal for an extention of the President's term limit is a clear indication that he is not interested in power.

He said time has come for Kalonzo to stand with him as he seeks to become the next Head of State.

"Now that Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka has confirmed he will not be in the Presidential race, I request him and other leaders to support my 2022 presidential bid as I galvanize more support nationally so that we can change our country," Mutua said.

Mutua said he is the only leader from the Ukambani region who has declared interest in the nation’s top seat.

He dismissed the claims that he is not in good terms with Kalonzo.

Mutua, however, maintained that he will not sit back and watch his people suffer in the name of waiting to back someone who is not ready for power.
