Speaking at the Assar Johnson School in Migori County on Sunday, Sossion who doubles up as an ODM nominated Member of Parliament (MP) said KNUT leadership may call for a nationwide teachers strike to challenge the ongoing transfer of head teachers across the Country.

He spoke while attending KNUT Migori branch Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The transfer of head teachers in Primary and Secondary Schools has been going on since January this year, in what the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has termed as delocalization of School’s leadership.

“The unrest in Schools in 2018 is purely because of delocalization, nothing else. If you look at the pattern of these schools, Kisii High School, Maranda High School do they really fear exams? That is the joke of the year,” Sossion said.

“Their only worry is that things are not happening right and nobody is listening to them because somebody took away a performing principal,” added Sossion.

The KNUT Secretary General urged teachers aligned to KNUT and the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) to remain united to effectively fight for their rights.
