Deputy President William Ruto's political career has had its ups and downs. It has had its fair share of glamour as well as mishaps.

Since he first got elected to Parliament in the 90's as Eldoret North MP, Ruto has been in the eye of several political storms

The following are the instances when the DP found himself in murky political waters:

Maize scandal in early 2009

Ruto was accused of selling maize illegally by the former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale. He attributed the allegations to some of his political enemies in the country.

Langata Primary land scandal in 2015

Ruto was on the spot again after reports alleged that he tried to illegally acquire the land that belonged to the Langata Road Primary School.

The reports further indicated that he wanted to use the space as a parking lot for a hotel he owns in the area.

Abby Cherop Ruto

Prisca Chemutai Bett, Ruto’s baby mama, claimed that the DP had fathered he now 1-year-old daughter named Abby Cherop Ruto.

He came out publicly in acknowledging he is indeed Abby's father and that he has been taking good care of her.
