Kabogo warned Gakuyo against spreading falsehoods against him, saying that Kenyans are not stupid.

He called on the televangelist and real estate mogul to return the money he owes to Kenyans and stop playing with their minds.

Kabogo accompanied the hard-hitting post with a picture of a suited and bespectacled Gakuyo addressing a crowd of people.

"Ndugu go visit a shrink. And stop playing with Kenyans, return their money then go back to school, form II Munyu Sec. Where you dropped out, You may learn a little manners there. Stop blaming me, Ive got nothing to do with your con business. You think Kenyans are stupid, you go pick people from Kiandutu to cheat Kenyans that you’re paying. Shame on you (sic)."  Kabogo fired.

Gakuyo and Kabogo are bitter political adversaries. In 2017,  Gakuyo made public his intentions of replacing Kabogo as governor.

Gakuyo is, however, no stranger to controversy. Early this year he was subject to a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) probe over the loss of savings at the troubled Ekeza Sacco.

A government audit report on the operations of the Sacco found that he withdrew Sh1 billion.
