Mandera County Youth Governor Mohamednur Mamo has been selected for the Global Youth Leadership Award 2019.
The ceremony organised by the Global Youth Parliament will go down from April 26 to April 27 in Nepal where its headquarters are situated.
Diwakar Aryal, the Global Youth Parliament president in an invitation letter dated Feb 5 noted that Mamo has scored arduous odds in youth matters and social empowerment.
“Global Youth Parliament is utterly proud of this selection and believes your relentless work for the empowerment of youth will continue with more enthusiasm in the days to come,” said Aryal.
The Global Youth Parliament has a board award selection committee which is tasked with the mandate to identify the best and deserving candidates for the award from around the world.
In a rejoinder, Mamo ecstatically opined that he is glad his efforts have had a positive impact in the lives of many.

“The youths are the leaders of tomorrow. I lead by example and I know we have the potential to become great men and women whom the country will look back and be proud of sometime in the future,” he remarked euphorically.
Mamo has been a strong anti-radicalisation crusader in Mandera where the majority of youths are lured into joining Somali extremist group, Al-Shabaab.
