Mohammed Farid Ali alias 'Wakili' has been reunited with his family after being picked by unknown men, handcuffed and forced into a saloon car on Friday, February 1.

While narrating the abduction to the press, the 2017 Mjambere ward MCA aspirant said he was picked near Nyali Centre in Mombasa when doing some documentation at a cybercafe alongside his friends, before being pulled into a car and later drugged.

He said the abductors took Ksh50,000 cash money from him and a watch, before demanding more money from him, only to realise that he had no means to communicate to the family about the ransom since he had left his phone at the cybercafe before being abducted.

After regaining consciousness, Farid said he found himself in Nairobi on Saturday and reported the matter to Kasarani police station where Deputy OCS helped him to call his family members and later boarded a bus back to Mombasa.

"I found myself in Nairobi," he said.

He said the abductors were at least four people and did not harm him physically.

Coast-based rights group Haki Africa confirmed that the politician had been found.

Mombasa businessman and former gubernatorial candidate Suleiman Shahbal had asked the police to help unravel the young politician's whereabouts.

"We've found him. Mohamed Farid Ali "Wakili" is Safe HAKI Africa can confirm that Mohamed Farid Ali "Wakili" is safe and sound back at home," said the organisation on Sunday.
