On Tuesday, Raila departed to China where he is expected to help President Uhuru Kenyatta to negotiate for a loan from Chinese government to help in the construction of SGR from Naivasha to Kisumu.

In China, Raila will attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation where he will make the case for synergies in infrastructure planning and development by embracing international standards, fostering a favorable environment and predictability for private sector investment in infrastructure.

Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri has dismissed Raila's trip to China terming it a waste of time.

He accused Raila for reducing himself to a political broker.

"It is sad that Raila has agreed to eat from the same plate with his rival. Going to China to help Uhuru borrow a loan means Raila is no longer an opposition leader," he said on Tuesday in Sameta, Kisii County.

Mr Obiri challenged opposition supporters across the country not to listen to Raila's theatrics in 2022.

"Opposition supporters should distance themselves from Raila because he is a traitor," he added.
