A teenage girl from Tana River County shocked many after she refused to leave the man she claims she loves after he was arrested.
The man was arrested following complaints by the parents that their 17-year-old daughter disappeared from home with the man.
The two were arrested at a public beach in Bamburi, Mombasa while having fun and the man has been detained in Tana River.
The Form Two student has however refused to leave the man in police custody and vowed to stay with him until he is released.
Tana River Police Commander Patrick Okeri who confirmed the incident said the girl has denied claims of being abducted by the man adding that she run away from home after being mistreated by her parent.
Mr Okeri said the girl claimed that the mother has been inviting men to their house to be with her on different occasions but she refuses.
She further claimed that her mother stabbed her in the hand after she refused to be with the men she has been inviting.
Mr Okeri said the man will be arraigned in court to answer to charges of defilement.
“The matter is under investigations. We cannot wish away the girl's claims. She has a mark but we cannot verify whether it was a knife wound.”
“Medical tests do not support claims of defilement so the man will be arraigned for the magistrate to give us directions,” said the commander as quoted by nation.co.ke.
