A document purportedly from Interpol in which Joho was being sought caused jitters among political elites with the governor writing to DCI and Interpol seeking clarification about the document.

And through John Kariuki, Mr Kinoti says the Interpol has denied responsibility of the letter, adding that Governor Joho is free to take legal actions against those spreading the information on social media.

"This is to inform you that your client (Joho) is not being sought by Interpol over drug trafficking charges. We have collected the feedback from Interpol."

The letter adds: "You are free to take civil actions against those spreading the information on social media."

Another letter sent to MMA Advocates, who are representing Joho by Interpol, also requests the DCI to help the governor investigate the origin of the letter which elicited sharp debate on social media.

Governor Joho has since sued Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi and Nandi Governor Stephen Sang for dragging his name to drug trafficking saga, although the two have also promised a rough legal tussle.

Mr Joho has accused Deputy President William Ruto of allegedly engineering online onslaught against him, adding that he's ready to face him in 2022 polls.
