In an interview with NTV on Sunday, Ruto insisted that he is ready to work with Raila, a dominance figure in Kenyan politics.

"I don't have any differences with Raila. We have worked together before and in fact, we are working as a team," he said.

The last two elections has seen Ruto fire at Raila, a reason why Nyanza politicians could be unhappy with him.

And Nyamira Senator Okong'o Mogeni says the ODM party is disinterested in Ruto's offer adding that it will field a candidate.

"I am shocked that he now says he's ready to work with Raila. The party is not ready for such theatrics," he said.

ODM Youth League leader Dennis Marube added:"We cannot work with someone with integrity questions. He should lie to someone else."

Early on Monday, ODM treasurer Timothy Bosire had welcomed the idea but only limited it to "development".

The DP is forming alliances ahead of 2022 and has not spared Nyanza, a region that has backed Odinga for decades.
