Former North Mugirango/Borabu MP Nyarangi Moturi will be laid to rest on Friday at Matutu settlement scheme, funeral committee leader Job Nyasimi has said.

Mr. Moturi, a former KANU diehard died on his way to hospital a fortnight ago in Nairobi and was mourned by various leaders.

And Mr. Nyasimi, a former gubernatorial hopeful said the  body  of former minister will be taken to Ekerenyo grounds for viewing on Thursday.

"There will be a memorial service on Wednesday in Nairobi Central SDA before being taken to Ekerenyo on Thursday.

"Leaders and members of the community will be allowed to give tribute at Ekerenyo before his burial on Friday," he said.

Governor John Nyagarama will lead residents during the funeral which could also feature powerful politicians from across Gusii.

In 2013, Mr. Moturi ran for senatorial election but lost to former senator Kennedy Okong'o.

The county governor lauded Mr. Nyarangi as the man who pushed for creation of Nyamira District from the larger Kisii in 1991 besides initiating rural electrical connectivity in the region.
