The second-term governor said his leadership will not tolerate land grabbing in Machakos County.

As Kenyans continue to elicit mixed reactions of demolitions of buildings in Nairobi, Mutua has also warned politicians against doing this in his county.

Mutua said immediate action will be taken.

He took to social media to share the information after addressing the press outside his office in Machakos town on Wednesday.

“Some of the grabbed public lands was stolen by prominent Kenyans and is today directly or indirectly owned by serving and former Senators, MPs, MCAs, Councilors’ and their Senior Government officials,” the Maendeleo Chap Chap leader said.

He urged all those who have grabbed land in Machakos County to surrender them before his administration takes action against them.

“I urge all those who occupy public land to honorably hand it over to my Government because one way or another, we will get it back. This is a new Kenya and there is no need for hide and seek games. Public land will be recovered whether the grabbers like it or not," Mutua added.

Mutua made the remarks a few weeks after his August 8, 2017's victory was nullified by the Court of Appeal.

He has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court.
